Octiva creates robotic labor automation solutions for the Controlled Environment Agriculture market in close collaboration and at the service of innovative growers. Octiva was created in 2021 from a merger from Priva’s robotic solutions and Octinion’s agricultural robotics. Priva is one of the global leaders in horticulture process control, Octinion is known for building ground-breaking agricultural robotics. With teams in De Lier (The Netherlands) and Leuven (Belgium), Octiva has about 40 employees.
As a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer, you will work on bringing the infrastructure of an existing cloud system to a higher level in line with the upscaling amount of hardware devices Octiva will sell all over the world. The robustness and monitoring of the current system must be improved with your expertise while keeping cost and maintenance effort under control. A first step would be to move hosting to AWS ECS and deploy the system using IaC. Your knowledge will result in optimal design decisions concerning the selected databases and database design. You also know how to handle complex communication with hardware via MQTT and AWS IoT Core.

YOUR PROFILE
- Several years of relevant working experience.
- You are living in Belgium.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to articulate technical concepts clearly and succinctly (Dutch-speaking is a bonus)
- Cloud expertise. You have experience with the following systems and concepts:
- Knowledge about AWS components:
- EC2
- API Gateway
- Lambda
- S3
- ECS
- VPC
- MQTT communication with AWS IOT Core and AWS IOT Rule
- IaC expertise (Terraform, CloudFormation, …)
- Containers: docker
- Management and optimisation of cloud costs
- Services and databases:
- NGINX
- MongoDB, DocumentDB
- S3
- Elasticsearch
- InfluxDB
- Timescale (based on PostgreSQL)
- Working knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, and HTTP)
- Experience with general-purpose programming languages: Python, Java
- Automation mindset and experience with implementing CI/CD pipelines
- Experience working with version control (GIT)
- Knowledge about AWS components:
- Excellent knowledge of Dutch and English is required (written and oral).
